Overview & Application Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the entire Sinhala FM software ecosystem, operated and maintained by Sanjana Sandanayaka (sanjana.dev):
Android Mobile Application: Package ID: com.slunicode (Distributed via Google Play Store).
Web Application & PWA: Hosted online at text.sanjana.dev.
Chrome Browser Extension: Sinhala FM Converter & Notebook (Manifest V3).
Mobile App Permissions & Device Safety
For the Android Mobile App (com.slunicode), we intentionally request zero sensitive runtime permissions. Here is our transparent breakdown:
Clipboard Access (Copy & Paste): Used strictly on demand when you explicitly tap the "Copy" or "Paste" buttons. The application never monitors your clipboard in the background or collects your clipboard history.
Device Storage / AsyncStorage: Used exclusively to persist your saved Notes (Notebook feature), theme preferences, and offline font settings locally on your phone storage.
Internet Access: Not required for conversions. All conversion algorithms run 100% offline. Network connectivity is only utilized when you tap external links (e.g. Google Play Store rating or Developer portfolio).
No Sensitive Sensors: The app does NOT access your Camera, Microphone, GPS/Location, Contacts, SMS, Phone State, or Biometrics.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Unlike cloud-based translation tools that transmit inputs to remote servers, Sinhala FM operates with zero data ingestion:
No Keystroke or Input Logging: We do not intercept, record, or transmit what you type in Unicode, Singlish, or FM Abhaya.
No Personal Identifiable Information (PII): No user accounts, registrations, names, emails, phone numbers, or payment details are collected.
No Ad Tracking or User Fingerprinting: We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs, advertising IDs (AAID/IDFA), or telemetry trackers.
Local Storage & Notebook Data Retention
When you create or save items using the Notebook feature:
• Notes are saved strictly inside your device's isolated application sandbox (AsyncStorage on mobile, localStorage / chrome.storage.local on web/extension).
• Notes are never synchronized to external servers or cloud databases.
• Data Deletion: You can delete individual notes at any time using the trash icon, or wipe all app storage by clearing App Data in your device's Settings.
Chrome Extension Permissions
The Sinhala FM Chrome Extension strictly complies with the Google Chrome Web Store Single Purpose Policy:
storage: Persists your offline Notebook notes and chosen mode preferences locally in your browser.
contextMenus: Provides right-click quick conversion shortcuts ("Convert to FM Abhaya" and "Save to Notebook") on selected text.
clipboardWrite: Allows copying converted text to your clipboard with a single click.
sidePanel: Allows pinning the converter side-by-side with your active browser tab without auto-closing.
Children's Privacy & Content Rating
Sinhala FM is suitable for users of all ages, including students, educators, and children (Content Rating: Everyone / 3+). Because we do not collect personal data, track users, or display ads, our application complies fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play Families Policy.
